Save the Date for the Wedding Anniversary Mass Sept. 17

Married couples from across the Diocese are invited to renew their vows and thank God for the gift of the Sacrament of Marriage during the annual Diocesan Wedding Anniversary Mass, to be celebrated Sunday, Sept. 17 at 3 p.m.

The Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Alfred Schlert at the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena, Allentown.

Those couples celebrating 1-5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50-plus years of marriage will receive special recognition.

The first miracle that Jesus performed was in a wedding – the Wedding at Cana (John 2). His presence at a wedding and his attention to the need of the couple highlights the importance of the vocation of marriage.

The Church sees in the Wedding at Cana, “the confirmation of the goodness of marriage and the proclamation that thenceforth marriage will be an efficacious sign of Christ's presence,” according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

By their marriage, the couple is witness to Christ’s spousal love for the Church. In answering God’s call to marriage, the couple promises, with the help of divine grace, a sacramental partnership of life and love.

You can register to attend the Mass by visiting www.allentowndiocese.org/anniversarymass. Watch AD Today and the AD Times for more information as the date gets closer.

Deadline to register is Monday, Sept. 4. If you have questions, email stewardship@allentowndiocese.org or call 610-866-0581 ext. 2310.
