It’s Okay to Eat Meat Today, On St. Joseph’s Day

Today is the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Friday, March 19, and that means it’s okay for Catholics to eat meat.

Solemnities are the highest rank of liturgical observance. When a Solemnity falls on a Friday in Lent, Canon Law says abstinence from meat is not required.

So it is okay to eat meat on St. Joseph’s Day without violating the Lenten discipline.
