St. Francis Retreat House Offers Seminar on Pope's ‘Laudato Si’

A mini-retreat to explore the call and invitation of Pope Francis’ encyclical to help heal the human family and the earth will be Monday, Sept. 20 at St. Francis Retreat House in Easton.

Marie North will present the retreat titled “Why ‘Laudato Si’ and Why Should We Care.” It will begin with supper together at 6 p.m., then continue with the retreat presentation from 7 to 9 p.m.

North, a parishioner of Annunciation BVM, Catasauqua, is concerned about the physical and spiritual health of the human family and the earth. She has been involved with sustainability for many years, and became a certified Sustainable Building Advisor in 2011, providing consulting services on achieving sustainability in everyday life through her website www.translatingsustainable.com.

In 2018 she became a Laudato Si Animator to help faith communities initiate sustainable practices in their places of worship, schools and other facilities.

May 24 marked the sixth anniversary of Pope Francis’ encyclical “Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home,” emphasizing the Pope’s concern for the physical and spiritual health of humanity and the earth.

The cost is $30 for onsite participation, or $15 for virtual. For more information or to register, go to www.stfrancisretreathouse.org or call 610-258-3053.
