St. Francis Retreat House Lists Summer and Fall Retreats

The overarching theme of the 2021 sponsored retreats at St. Francis Retreat House in Easton this summer and fall is “Encounters with a Wondrous God.” This theme reminds us that even in our world of loss and change, we can meet our wondrously loving God in each other, in our times of personal and liturgical prayer with the Risen Christ, and as we gaze upon and walk amidst the beauty of God’s good creation.

Jeanne Hunt, MA, a popular presenter whose humor and insights engage her audience, will lead married couples through the seven stages of a healthy marriage in a weekend retreat entitled, “Love Endures All Things: Seven Stages of a Healthy Marriage” from July 30 to August 1. Jeanne is a mother and grandmother and is presently the Director of Religious Education at Our Lady of Visitation Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is the author of eight books, and she teaches in the Religious Studies department at the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.

Fr. Keith Laskowski, MDiv, pastor of Our Lady of Mercy and St. Anthony Churches in Easton, invites men to take up the invitation of Jesus Christ: “Come away by yourselves…and rest a while.” During his weekend retreat entitled “You are my Beloved Son: Discovering the Heart of the Father” from August 27 to 29, men will bid the Holy Spirit to illuminate, heal, and renew their hearts so they can better live out their vocations as disciples of Jesus Christ.

In the fall for our annual Franciscan-themed weekend retreat, we will sponsor, Sr. Mary Beth Ingham, CSJ, PhD, “one of the foremost John Duns Scotus scholars in the world today.” Sr. Mary Beth is the Professor of Philosophical Theology at the Franciscan School of Theology at San Diego, CA; and she is also Professor Emerita and Distinguished Scholar in Philosophy at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA.

Sr. Mary Beth is a wonderfully gifted teacher who is able to share deeply from the Franciscan tradition in ways all can understand. Her retreat is called “Seized by Beauty: Walking the Franciscan Spiritual Path,” and it will be held on the weekend of October 1 to 3. This retreat will reflect on Franciscan spirituality and be guided by St Bonaventure and Blessed John Duns Scotus. It is open to all who desire to discover how the pathway of beauty is at the foundation of Franciscan life and thought.

Retreat Information: Arrival time for all three weekend retreats is between 4:00 and 5:30 pm on Friday; departure is after Mass and lunch on Sunday. Suggested offering is $215 for a private room with bath, six meals, and materials or $75 for access to the live virtual presentations. The married couples retreat offering is $390 per couple.
